September 2, 2006, Northwest and Air France will codeshare on
each other's nonstop flights between Detroit and Paris, offering
customers more convenient flight options. In addition, the
codeshare agreement will be expanded later this fall to include
seamless connections for Northwest customers to numerous
destinations throughout Europe, Africa and the Middle East,
served by Air France from its Paris hub, as well as connections
for Air France customers to destinations throughout the USA from
Northwest's Detroit hub. The codeshare implementation enables
each carrier’s customers to easily book reservations and enjoy
convenient one-stop check-in and luggage service for connecting
flights, while providing the expanded global reach of two
airline networks.
Members of Northwest's WorldPerks® and Air France-KLM's
Flying Blue frequent flyer programs will continue to receive
accrual and redemption benefits on flights operated by both
airlines. Northwest World Business ClassSM travelers
and WorldClubs® members will continue to enjoy access
to the Air France Business Class Lounge, located in Terminal E
at Charles de Gaulle Airport. Air France First Class and
Business Class international travelers will continue to enjoy
access to WorldClubs locations at Northwest’s WorldGateway at
Detroit.
"We are excited to be expanding our SkyTeam Alliance partnership
with Air France. This new codeshare implementation, along with
our existing alliances with KLM Royal Dutch Airlines,
Continental Airlines, Delta Airlines, Alaska Airlines, and other
partners, will enable our customers to travel seamlessly to
virtually any destination throughout the world," said Nathaniel
Pieper, Northwest's vice president – alliances.
