Many people will be bumped this summer
Planes will be packed this summer and many flights will be over-sold as airlines misjudge how many no-shows they have for a flight. When an airline has more people show up for a flight than they have seats available then they have to “bump” customers. With oversold flights the first thing that airlines usually do is offer compensation in the form of free or discounted flights to any passengers that will voluntarily agree to give up their seat and take a later flight. If not enough people agree to give up their seats then the airline will do what is called “involuntary bumping” of passengers and the airline must compensate bumped passengers with up to $400 in cash. P.S. Don't accept airline vouchers unless you are getting far more value than the cash offer. They often have restrictions and time limits. ID theft joins list of travel scams
You may know about scams used by moneychangers, taxi drivers and bartenders, but there is a new danger facing business travelers, identity theft.
Identity theft involves getting personal details about you, which are then used to target your bank accounts, strike business deals in your name or pose as you or your company. This kind of crime has cost consumers, finance and credit-card companies about $11.7 billion in one year up to April 2004, according to research firm Gartner Inc. "One day I received a bill from a mobile phone company for £2,000 ($3,660) for a telephone bill and then shortly after that I was refused a mortgage," Richard Cohen, a victim of identity theft told CNN. An Industry Renaissance
Is the hotel industry undergoing a renaissance period? Maybe that’s overstating it a bit, but one thing is for sure: Something noteworthy is happening. Over the past few years there has been a noticeable surge of creativity that promises to reshape the look and feel of the industry. The most recent example comes from Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide.

Building on the considerable success the chain has had with its trendy W Hotels, Starwood has created a new brand. For the time being, Starwood is referring to it as Project XYZ, but I like to call it “W Hotel Lite.” The daily room rate will be several hundred dollars less than a W Hotel, and Starwood hopes to open 50 a year for the next 10 years. Among other things it will boast, according to Starwood, “light-filled ‘commons’ spaces featuring dramatic water and fire elements, a destination lounge and a sunken conversation area designated the Pit Stop.” Click Here to continue.
