Marriott
Hotels Head towards the 'zone'
Most hotel lobbies follow a familiar format. The
front desk is over there, nearby is the concierge
desk and somewhere in between is the post for the
bell staff. Marriott thinks it's time for a
makeover. "The decades-old model of a hotel lobby,
with all of these fixed spaces - a front desk, a
bell stand, concierge, a business center, gift shop,
restaurant - is really no how people live today,"
said Mike Jannini, Marriott's executive vice
president, lodging brand management. " So, in
essence, what we want to do is think completely
different and start with a blank sheet of paper."
Jannini said that when viewed from a fresh perspective, hotel lobbies have significantly more potential to engage guests and add value to the property. He called lobbies "valuable real estate," places where people " want to be alone but in the presence of other people." Click Here to continue.
